KOFI EATS HAMBLE PIE

''Mum , I am sure it's Ayeley who stole my phone." Kofi said to his mother Auntie Dede.
    "Are you sure, kofi . I have told you on several occasions not to accuse others falsely. What about if it is not Ayeley? I do not like this your attitude." 
      "Mom I am sure . Who else could it be ?" Retorted kofi.
       Kofi and his mother lived in the capital town of Juliebia . Kofi was a final year student in a senior high school. He was the only child of his mother Auntie Dede . 
      When kofi was eight years old his mother adopted a young girl called Ayeley. The idea was to raise kofi and Ayeley as her beloved children. Unfortunately kofi had found it difficult to accept Ayeley as his sister. Try as Auntie Dede did kofi had refused to open up to Ayeley. 
      " Kofi, Why are you always complaining about your sister Ayeley? At the least opportunity you say something negative about her . " Auntie Dede had complained to kofi.  
      " But mom, she did poorly in the examinations. She is not a good student." Kofi had mockingly replied her mother. 
     " Kofi , kofi do not say this about your only sister ." 
     " My only sister! I keep telling you she will not turn out well , somebody who stole my money like other day. God punish her !" That was kofi. 
     Ayeley had however treated kofi as her only brother. She had always respected him and treated him with love. She was always yearning for kofi's love in return. 
      " Kofi can you help me with my homework? You know I am weak in Mathematics." That was Ayeley to his brother kofi .
      " You are not only weak in Mathematics. I have always told you are not a good student. Go and get somebody to help you with your homework." Kofi taunted her .
       Ayeley was determined to prove his cruel brother wrong. She started paying attention in class . She made sure she understood everything that was taught in class,  much to the admiration of her class teachers and her mother Auntie Dede.  
      " Ayeley,  I have noticed a remarkable change in your performance in school. Keep it up." Auntie Dede said happily to her daughter .
     " I am sure she has been copying someone in class wait and see ." Kofi had refused to acknowledge her sisters good performance in class.  
       Ayeley's performance kept improving by the day . At the end of the first term Ayeley placed third in her class JHS 3 . By the end of the second term she was the best student in her class.
       By the end of the third term she had written the BECE examinations when the results were released she had came out as the best student in the whole of Mambo .
      Her mother was so happy. Her brother kofi could not help but congratulate her and apologise to her . 
      " I am sorry, Ayeley. Please forgive me I promise to be a good brother.

Every home had one, their branches heavy with sweet, golden fruit when the season was right. Abena's favorite tree grew at the edge of her grandmother's old farm.
